Performances

Claire Chaulet first discovered her taste for public performative interventions at the age of 12, when she participated in the Street Theatre Festival, “Aurillac”, in France. Its impact sparked a flame which she has since kept alive through creating performances and street theatre.

She developed and performed her first theatre piece at 14 with her friend Chloe allutro. She then travelled 4 years later, to West Africa, with an adaptation of the “Little Prince” by A. de St-Exupery. A couple years later she spent half a year in the est Bank, leading theatre workshops in Aida Camp and researching the social impact of Forum Theatre.

Claire’s experience of Forum Theatre inspired her to explore new ways of interacting with the public and she continued to perform with the forum
theatre Group Rabenschwarz when she returned to Berlin. This curiosity in human nteraction thus continues to appear in her work through the immersive and political aspects of different shows.

Although she is deeply connected to current concerns and dealing with concrete ssues, humour and absurdity are never far away. They appear in the form of exaggerations and burlesque details. Approaching serious topics with an element f irony and buffoonery is not only a characteristic of her visual work but also the performative.

Currently Claire is active as a stage designer, puppeteer and performer for the Theatre of Details and other companies, such as Drehbühne. Additionally, she creates masks, giant puppets and other performative art pieces together with different communities and sociocultural projects. The themes at the core of her creative process echo again here; recycling, experimentation with unconventional materials and reclaimed transformations.

Die Künstlerin hat sich von der amerindianischen Legende vom Kolibri inspirieren lassen, der als dort als einziges Tier versucht, en brennenden Wald mit ein paar Wassertröpfchen zu retten. Die Adaptation, die auf ihre Weise an den Klimawandel und seine roblematik, anspielt, ist für ein Publikum aller Alterklassen gedacht. Im Objekttheaterstuck Im Wald von Hambibleibski wird aus der Sicht er Tiere des Waldes erzählt, deren jahrhundertalter Lebensraum von bedrohlichen Menschinen bedroht wird, die die Bäume fressen und abscheulich stinkende Kohle ausscheiden.

Die Tiere suchen zunächst das Gespräch mit den Menschinen, die sich davon jedoch icht in ihrem Tun beirren lassen. Die Lage scheint aussichtslos zu sein und die Tiere beginnen, aus dem Wald zu fliehen – doch eine utige Maus lässt sich nicht unterkriegen: „Ich tue was ich tun kann! Ich besetze jetzt einfach diesen Baum. Und ich werde mit meinen itteln versuchen, diesen Baum, in dem ich leben will, zu schützen. Meine lieben Freunde, macht doch mit: Je mehr wir Bauten in den äumen entstehen lassen, desto weniger wird man so tun können, es gäbe es uns nicht. Wir müssen zeigen, dass wir hier wohnen und unseren Wald schützen.“ Und so beginnt langsam ein merkwürdiger Aufstand, dessen Ausgang
